Overview of product property and technical characteristics

MGD process was developed by SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) for maximum production of LPG and LCO and remarkable reduction of olefin content in gasoline with heavy feedstock. RGD-1 catalyst is the proprietary catalyst for MGD process with good bottom cracking ability,which can selectively inhibit the re-cracking of intermediate distillate, enhance the secondary cracking of gasoline fraction to increase LCO yield as well as LPG yield. With adjustment of the density and strength of zeolite active center for properly improving the hydrogen transfer reaction of RGD-1 catalyst, the olefin content in the gasoline drops. Through modification of kaolin, the big pore greater than 100Å and the small pore less than 5Å both are increased, so the carrier has good pore distribution gradient, enabling cracking of large molecules in the big pore with middle/weak acidity and further cracking of gasoline into LPG in the small pore with middle/strong acidity. By means of introducing metal components into active center for adjusting the acid strength and improving the hydrogen transfer ability, the conversion of gasoline into LPG is deepened and olefin content in the gasoline is reduced. The application of modified shape-selective molecular sieve is in favor of improving both LPG yield and gasoline octane number.
