Catalyst BC-249 for the oxidation of o-xylene to phthalic anhydride

Catalyst BC-249 for the oxidation of o-xylene to phthalic anhydride

Overview of product performance and technical characteristics

The phthalic anhydride catalyst BC-249 is developed by Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry for the oxidation of o-xylene to phthalic anhydride. The catalyst is a V2O5-TiO2 supported catalyst suitable for the unit using the 70-90 g process of the oxidation of o-xylene to phthalic anhydride with fixed bed. The four-step filling procedure is introduced according to reactor condition with different activity and selectivity in each step. The catalyst has a list of technical characteristics as below.

High o-xylene concentration up to 70-88 g/Nm3;

Low reaction temperature and 343-360˚C of molten salt temperature;

Short induction period and o-xylene concentration up to over 80g/Nm3 in 45-60 days;

High space velocity and yield and phthalic anhydride weight yield ≥112.5%(in the first year);

High purity phthalic anhydride, the content of phthalides in raw phthalic anhydride ≤ 0.10% and less slag;

No need adding SO2 in reaction.
