Efficient utilization of heavy oil driven by new generation of residue hydrogenation catalyst

Recently, a new generation of RHT-200 series residue hydrogenation catalyst jointly developed by Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing and Sinopec Catalyst Company has passed the technical review led by Sinopec Science & Technology Dept. RHT-200 series residue hydrogenation catalyst can operate more efficiently in terms of demetalization and carbon residue conversion, thus significantly improving the market competitiveness of residue hydrogenation catalyst. The specialists attending the review meeting recommend application of the technology.

The residue hydrogenation technology is vital for enabling availability and utilization of clean petroleum resources. The 3rd generation of residue hydrogenation catalyst made by Sinopec Catalyst Company has been commercially applied in dozens of units at home and abroad. The scientific & technological people have developed RHT-200 series residue hydrogenation catalyst with new feedstock, unique carrier molding process development and catalyst preparation method, etc., including RDM and RCS series.

The pilot test results indicate that RHT-200 series catalyst operates at a stability superior to the 3rd generation of residue hydrogenation RHT series catalyst, demonstrating excellent adaptation of raw oil. Currently, the technology has been entitled to 20 domestic patents with proprietary intellectual property rights .
