The development and industrial application test of new type Ethyl benzene dehydrogenation catalyst，which is jointly undertaken by Guangzhou Petrochemical and Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology，has passed the evaluation organized by Sinopec recently.

At the appraising meeting, experts stated that this project exploited out a sort of catalyst with creativity and independent intellectual property. Its comprehensive performance index has reached the level of imported products and created remarkable economic benefit and social benefit. They also suggested that we should widely spread and apply this ethyl benzene dehydrogenationcatalyst.

The ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst has been successfully expanded and realized the mass production at SCC since 2009. It began industrial application at Guangzhou petrochemical’s styrene unit on January 2010.  The result of industrial running demonstrates that this catalyst possesses a variety of excellent properties, such as great handling capacity of feedstock, high selectivity of styrene, high yield of conversion rate of ethylbenzene, good performance of chalk resistance, long-term operation stability and so on. Using this catalyst not only increases the product output and yield, but also decreases the consumption of catalyst.
