New type high selectivity silver catalyst, which is cooperatively developed by SCC, BRICI and Shanghai Petrochemical, has successfully passed its annual evaluation at ethylene glycol unit in Shanghai Petrochemical recently. Selectivity of the catalyst has reached advanced level of similar foreign product. Moreover, catalyst activity and the quality of ethylene glycol product is superior to the similar foreign catalyst. It means that Sinopec is capable of developing and producing high selectivity silver catalyst independently.
